30-Minute Rolls
Ingredients:
- 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons warm water
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 3½ cups all-purpose or bread flour
Instructions:
- Preheat and Prep:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Activate Yeast:
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the warm water, vegetable oil, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Stir and let the mixture rest for 10-15 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
- Mix the Dough:
- Add 2 cups of flour, salt, and the egg to the yeast mixture. Using the dough hook attachment, mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the remaining 1½ cups of flour, ½ cup at a time, until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl and is smooth.
- Shape and Rise:
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Allow the dough balls to rest for about 10 minutes, or until they begin to puff up slightly.
- Bake the Rolls:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the rolls are cooked through.
- Serve Warm:
- Remove from the oven and let the rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm, perhaps with a pat of butter!
Tips:
- Warm Water: Ensure the water is warm but not hot, around 110°F (43°C), to properly activate the yeast.
- Flour Measurement: For best results, measure your flour using the spoon-and-level method to avoid adding too much.
These rolls are perfect for a quick and satisfying side dish, and they’ll have everyone asking for more! 🍞😋
