30-Minute Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons warm water
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3½ cups all-purpose or bread flour

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prep:
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  1. Activate Yeast:
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the warm water, vegetable oil, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Stir and let the mixture rest for 10-15 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
  1. Mix the Dough:
  • Add 2 cups of flour, salt, and the egg to the yeast mixture. Using the dough hook attachment, mix until well combined.
  • Gradually add the remaining 1½ cups of flour, ½ cup at a time, until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl and is smooth.
  1. Shape and Rise:
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.
  • Allow the dough balls to rest for about 10 minutes, or until they begin to puff up slightly.
  1. Bake the Rolls:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the rolls are cooked through.
  1. Serve Warm:
  • Remove from the oven and let the rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm, perhaps with a pat of butter!

Tips:

  • Warm Water: Ensure the water is warm but not hot, around 110°F (43°C), to properly activate the yeast.
  • Flour Measurement: For best results, measure your flour using the spoon-and-level method to avoid adding too much.

These rolls are perfect for a quick and satisfying side dish, and they’ll have everyone asking for more! 🍞😋
