Air Fryer Ribs

Air Fryer Ribs are a quick and delicious way to enjoy tender, juicy ribs with a caramelized finish. Here’s how to make them:

Ingredients

  • 1 rack of baby back ribs (about 2–3 lbs)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp chili powder (optional for heat)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Ribs

  1. Remove the Membrane: Flip the ribs bone-side up and use a knife to lift and peel off the thin membrane on the back of the ribs.
  2. Cut into Sections: Cut the rack into 3–4 rib sections so they fit easily into your air fryer basket.

Step 2: Season

  1. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Rub olive oil over the ribs, then coat them evenly with the spice mixture.

Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.

Step 4: Cook the Ribs

  1. Place the rib sections in the air fryer basket in a single layer (work in batches if needed).
  2. Cook for 15 minutes at 375°F, flipping halfway through.

Step 5: Add Barbecue Sauce

  1. Brush a generous layer of barbecue sauce on both sides of the ribs.
  2. Increase the air fryer temperature to 400°F (200°C) and cook for an additional 5–8 minutes, until the sauce caramelizes and the ribs are tender.

Step 6: Serve

  • Let the ribs rest for a couple of minutes before serving. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.

Tips for Perfect Air Fryer Ribs

  • Tenderizing: For extra tenderness, parboil the ribs for 20 minutes before air frying, especially if they are thick.
  • Flavor Boost: Marinate the ribs overnight with the spice rub for deeper flavor.
  • Crispy Finish: Broil the ribs in the oven for 2–3 minutes if you want an extra charred effect.
