Bacon-Wrapped Chicken Breasts
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 8-12 slices of bacon (depending on size of chicken breasts)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for searing)
- Toothpicks or kitchen twine (for securing)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). - Season the Chicken:
- Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika (if using).
- Wrap with Bacon:
- Wrap each chicken breast with 2-3 slices of bacon, securing the bacon with toothpicks or kitchen twine. Ensure the bacon is tightly wrapped around the chicken.
- Sear the Chicken:
- Heat olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the bacon-wrapped chicken breasts for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bacon starts to get crispy and brown. This step helps render some of the bacon fat and adds flavor.
- Bake the Chicken:
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C) and the bacon is crispy. If the bacon needs more crisping, you can broil the chicken for an additional 1-2 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
- Rest and Serve:
- Remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Remove toothpicks or twine before serving.
Serving Suggestions:
- Serve with your favorite sides such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad.
- The bacon-wrapped chicken also pairs well with a simple gravy or dipping sauce.
