- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Equipment:
- Mixing bowls
- Rolling pin
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper (optional)
Instructions:
- Make the Pastry:
- In a bowl, combine 2 cups flour and 1/4 tsp salt. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until a dough forms. Wrap in plastic and chill for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat. Add diced potato, onion, carrot, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook for about 10 minutes until the vegetables soften.
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into circles (about 6 inches in diameter).
- Fill the Pasties:
- Place a spoonful of filling on one half of each circle. Brush edges with water, fold over, and seal by crimping with a fork.
- Brush and Bake:
- Place pasties on the baking sheet. Beat the egg and brush the tops. Cut a small slit in each for steam to escape. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.

Tips for Success:
- Experiment: Feel free to add your favorite herbs or spices to the filling.
