Classic Cherry Delight Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup sugar
For the Cream Cheese Layer:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (or 1 container of Cool Whip)
For the Cherry Topping:
- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
Instructions:
- Prepare the Crust:
- In a medium bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar until combined.
- Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13-inch pan to form an even layer.
- Place in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the other layers.
- Make the Cream Cheese Layer:
- In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until well-combined.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, or use Cool Whip as a shortcut.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until fully combined.
- Assemble the Layers:
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled graham cracker crust.
- Top with the cherry pie filling, spreading it gently to cover the cream layer.
- Chill:
- Refrigerate the dessert for at least 2-4 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Serve:
