Easy Churros

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (for coating)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
  • In a saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 1/2 cup butter, 1 tbsp sugar, and 1/4 tsp salt. Bring to a boil.
  • Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in 1 cup flour until a dough forms.
  1. Add Eggs:
  • Let the dough cool slightly, then beat in the eggs one at a time. Mix until smooth and add vanilla extract if using.
  1. Heat the Oil:
  • In a deep skillet or pot, heat about 2 inches of oil over medium heat.
  1. Pipe the Churros:
  • Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Once the oil is hot, pipe 4-6 inch strips into the oil, cutting them with scissors.
  1. Fry:
  • Fry churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  1. Coat:
  • In a bowl, mix 1/2 cup sugar with 1 tsp cinnamon. Roll the warm churros in the mixture to coat.
  1. Serve:
  • Enjoy your churros warm, with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping!

Tips for Success:

  • Test Oil Temperature: To test if the oil is ready, drop a small piece of dough into it; it should sizzle and rise to the surface.
  • Storage: Churros are best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a day.

Enjoy your delicious homemade churros! Theyā€™re perfect for a sweet treat!
