Famous Butter Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan or two 9-inch round cake pans.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Pour and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan(s). Bake for 50-60 minutes (for loaf) or 25-30 minutes (for round cakes), or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
