Grilled Cheese Toast

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of bread (your choice: white, whole wheat, sourdough, etc.)
  • 4 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, or your favorite)
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp dried herbs (like oregano or basil, optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bread:
  • Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. If using garlic powder or dried herbs, mix them with the butter before spreading for extra flavor.
  1. Assemble the Toast:
  • Place half of the slices, buttered side down, on a clean surface. Top each slice with a slice of cheese. If you like, you can add a second slice of cheese for extra gooeyness. Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
  1. Heat the Pan:
  • Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  1. Cook the Toast:
  • Once the skillet is hot, carefully place the sandwiches in the pan. Cook until golden brown on the bottom, about 3-4 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until golden and the cheese is melted, another 3-4 minutes.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove from the skillet, slice in half if desired, and serve warm. Enjoy your grilled cheese toast with a side of soup or salad!
