homemade air fryer cottage pie

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp dried thyme (optional)

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 2 cups potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
  • Boil the diced potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15 minutes). Drain and return to the pot.
  • Add butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  1. Make the Filling:
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground meat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion, carrots, and garlic; cook until softened (about 5 minutes).
  • Stir in tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, peas, thyme, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  1. Assemble the Cottage Pie:
  • Preheat your air fryer to 360°F (182°C).
  • In a heatproof dish that fits your air fryer, layer the meat filling at the bottom. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.
  1. Air Fry:
  • Cook in the air fryer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  1. Serve:

Tips:
