Kentucky Butter Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Cake:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For the Butter Sauce:
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
For the Cake:
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch Bundt pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
- Add the buttermilk, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
For the Butter Sauce:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, butter, and water. Stir until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved. Do not boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Finishing the Cake:
- While the cake is still in the pan, use a skewer or toothpick to poke holes all over the cake.
- Slowly pour the butter sauce over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
- Let the cake cool completely in the pan before inverting it onto a serving plate.
