Street Tacos de Carne Asada

Ingredients:

For the Carne Asada:

  • 1 1/2 pounds flank steak or skirt steak
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

For the Tacos:

  • Corn tortillas (8-10)
  • Diced onion
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Lime wedges
  • Salsa or hot sauce (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Steak:
  • In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, lime juice, orange juice, garlic, cumin, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes.
  • Place the steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the marinade over it. Marinate for at least 1 hour (up to overnight in the fridge for more flavor).
  1. Cook the Steak:
  • Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and let excess marinade drip off.
  • Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  1. Prepare the Tacos:
  • Warm the corn tortillas on the grill or in a skillet. Slice the carne asada into thin strips.
  • Assemble the tacos by placing a few strips of steak on each tortilla. Top with diced onion and chopped cilantro.
  1. Serve:
  • Serve the tacos with lime wedges and your favorite salsa or hot sauce on the side.

Tips:

  • Toppings: Add avocado slices or queso fresco for extra flavor.
  • Side Dishes: Serve with a side of Mexican rice or refried beans.

Enjoy your street tacos de carne asada! 🌮✨
