Sweet and Spicy Honey Pepper Chicken
Ingredients:
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sriracha (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Marinade:
- In a bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, sriracha, garlic powder, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Marinate the Chicken:
- Place the chicken breasts in a zip-top bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it’s well coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours in the refrigerator for more flavor).
- Cook the Chicken:
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and season lightly with salt.
- Add the chicken to the skillet and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and golden brown. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (75°C).
- Make the Sauce:
- In a small saucepan, bring the reserved marinade to a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes, until slightly thickened.
- Serve:
- Drizzle the thickened sauce over the cooked chicken. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.
Tips:
- Serving Suggestions: Serve with rice, quinoa, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
- Add More Spice: Adjust the amount of sriracha or add chopped fresh jalapeños for extra heat.
Enjoy your sweet and spicy honey pepper chicken! 🍗✨
