Ground Beef and Gravy over Mashed Potatoes Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 2 pounds (900 g) potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk
  • 1/4 cup (60 g) unsalted butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Ground Beef and Gravy:

  • 1 pound (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups (480 ml) beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Mashed Potatoes:
  • In a large pot, boil the chopped potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.
  • Add milk, butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  1. Cook the Ground Beef:
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  1. Prepare the Gravy:
  • Sprinkle the flour over the beef mixture, stirring to combine. Cook for about 1 minute.
  • Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce and bring to a simmer. Cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  1. Serve:
  • Spoon the creamy mashed potatoes onto plates and top with the ground beef and gravy mixture. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Enjoy! 🍽️
